one of my very most favorite necklaces has a sliding knot just like that, and now I know how to make one myself!

Hi Andrea, sorry – the Reef Knot (also known as a Square Knot) should lie FLAT, you use the same cord to do the wrap over and through, both times – your knot is a common mistake – known as a granny knot, lumpy and unreliable, and the reason lots of people have trouble with their shoe laces (the bow keeps coming undone!) It so happens, that if you do the reef knot correctly, when you flip one side over, you'll have a larks head knot – but that's another story!

Gak! That's a granny knot, not a square knot! A square knot starts with an overhand knot sure enough, and the second half is another overhand knot, but if the first crosses left over right, the second must cross right over left to complete a proper square knot.

AWESOME VIDEO! thank you

Yes, as another has said, the "square" knot shown here is actually a "granny" knot. I also wouldn't trust this "sliding" knot very much since an overhand knot comes lose very easy.

Very helpful. đ

my sister is doing a bracelet and she wants me to do a double knot but I find it hard

She's so stupid I want to know how to do it not watching you do it

Very very helpful thanks

Your demonstration is clear but I want to know what situations each of those knots are best used.

thank you Andrea
