late one night while detecting in a
public park I found a black enameled silver locket
with golden details the locket still contained pieces of
paper but the pictures was withered away dark jewelry like this is often referred
to as mourning jewelry I had to start out by cleaning all of
the dirt away from it mourning jewelry has been around since
at least the sixteen hundreds, but was at its most popular during the eighteen
hundreds the original hinge pin had rustedd away I had to remove that fragments using a
modified sewing needle the needle was later cut into size and
used as a new hinge pin it the locket it is marked but i’m not sure
what the marking say, maybe it’s the initials of the person who had passed
away? morning lockets would often contain a
picture and a lock of hair from the loved one who had passed away
